Areas affected...Portions of south FL and the Keys
Concerning...Tornado Watch 184...
Valid 301355Z - 301600Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 184 continues.
SUMMARY...An isolated severe threat, including the potential for
occasional damaging winds and a brief tornado, will shift quickly
eastward this morning.
DISCUSSION...A broken line of thunderstorms is ongoing along a cold
front this morning across parts of south FL and the Keys. The 12Z
MFL sounding shows ample instability to support continued
thunderstorm intensity. Both low-level and deep-layer shear also
remain strong enough for updraft rotation and organization,
including some threat for supercells within the line. Occasional
damaging winds and a brief tornado will remain possible with this
activity until it clears the Atlantic Coast, which should occur in
the next couple of hours. Also of note, recent VWPs from KAMX show a
general veering trend in boundary-layer winds to southwesterly. This
will tend to reduce effective SRH/hodograph curvature, and limit
low-level convergence along the front. Still, an isolated severe
threat should persist as this activity moves across the Miami/Ft.
Lauderdale/Palm Beach metro areas and the Keys.
