NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...central Nebraska

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 188...

Valid 060404Z - 060600Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 188
continues.

SUMMARY...A small cluster of strong/severe storms will continue
moving eastward across parts of central Nebraska, where severe risk
will linger.

DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a small -- but vigorous --
cluster of storms moving eastward across portions of central
Nebraska at this time. The most vigorous updrafts are crossing
Dawson/Frontier/Gosper counties at this time, where threat for
damaging wind gusts and hail continues.

With time, storms will continue moving eastward, aided by a
southerly low-level jet now observed across the southern and into
the central Plains states. With ample instability east of the
ongoing convection, expect storms to persist, though a gradual
decrease in severe potential should commence after midnight. With
that said, the degree of risk which could persist beyond the
scheduled 06/05Z expiration of WW 188 could warrant an extension of
the WW in time for portions of central Nebraska.
