Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0740 PM CDT Sun Sep 03 2023 Valid 040100Z - 041200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST GREAT BASIN INTO WESTERN WYOMING... ...SUMMARY... Gusty winds may accompany convection across parts of northeast Utah into extreme western Wyoming for the next few hours. ...01z Update... Pronounced short-wave trough is ejecting across the western Great Basin early this evening. Leading edge of large-scale ascent appears to be associated with convection that is now spreading across southeast ID, trailing across northwest UT. 00z sounding from SLC has yet to be overturned with 40F surface temp/dew point spreads and SBCAPE around 800 J/kg. Adequate deep-layer flow/shear are present across this region for the maintenance of organized convection, but appreciable buoyancy is now reduced to a small corridor of the northeastern Great Basin into extreme western WY. Gusty winds may accompany some of this activity for the next few hours, but overall trends suggest the severe threat will be limited due to limited instability. ..Darrow.. 09/04/2023
