URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 131 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 255 PM EDT Thu Apr 6 2023 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of District Of Columbia Delaware Eastern Maryland Northern North Carolina Southern New Jersey Central and Eastern Virginia Coastal Waters * Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 255 PM until 1000 PM EDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will continue to intensify along the Blue Ridge over central VA, with storms moving eastward across the watch area through the afternoon. The strongest cells will pose a risk of damaging wind gusts and hail. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80 statute miles east and west of a line from 25 miles northwest of Atlantic City NJ to 30 miles east of Danville VA.
