The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Extreme southeast Colorado
Northeast New Mexico
The Oklahoma Panhandle
The northern Texas Panhandle
* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 225 PM until
900 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 2 inches in diameter possible
Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...A few supercells are expected to form near the Raton Mesa
this afternoon, and the storms will move east-southeastward through
Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles through this evening. Large hail up
to 2 inches in diameter will be the main threat, though isolated
severe gusts of 60-70 mph and a brief tornado will also be possible.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 70 miles west northwest
of Clayton NM to 70 miles east of Borger TX. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
