URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 315 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 535 AM CDT Fri Jun 16 2023 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southwestern Louisiana Southeast Texas Coastal Waters * Effective this Friday morning from 535 AM until 1100 AM CDT. * Primary threats include... Isolated significant damaging wind gusts to 75 mph possible Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...An organized cluster of strong-severe thunderstorms -- that began as elevated convection behind the distantly departed bowing MCS -- is catching up to the outflow boundary and approaching a more-unstable, surface-based field of favorable buoyancy and deep shear. Large/damaging hail and severe gusts are possible, potentially as far south as the Gulf Coast. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles east northeast of Lufkin TX to 25 miles south of Lake Charles LA.
