The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Extreme southern Iowa
Extreme west central Illinois
Extreme northeast Kansas
Northern Missouri
* Effective this Thursday morning and afternoon from 545 AM until
100 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 80
mph likely
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 2.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...Clusters of supercells will develop eastward near and
south of the Iowa/Missouri border through the morning, with the
potential to produce isolated very large hail to 2.5 inches in
diameter. Farther west, a persistent storm cluster may evolve into
more of a bowing segment, with an attendant threat for damaging
winds up to 80 mph as it moves into northern Missouri.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 5 miles southwest of
Falls City NE to 30 miles east of Quincy IL. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
