The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Eastern Iowa
Illinois
Northwest Indiana
Eastern Missouri
Lake Michigan
* Effective this Thursday morning and afternoon from 1035 AM
until 500 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Widespread damaging winds expected with isolated significant
gusts to 80 mph possible
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5
inches in diameter possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...A complex of severe/locally intense storms will continue
eastward into Illinois and eventually nearby parts of northwest
Indiana and far eastern Missouri through afternoon. Damaging winds
and potentially significant wind gusts are a prominent concern aside
from isolated large hail, and potentially a brief tornado risk with
line-embedded circulations.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 115
statute miles north and south of a line from 55 miles west of Peoria
IL to 5 miles north northeast of Danville IL. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
