Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...Widely scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to affect the watch area through the evening. The strongest cells will pose a risk of locally damaging wind gusts and hail. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45 statute miles north and south of a line from 75 miles west southwest of Asheville NC to 90 miles east northeast of Hickory NC.
