600 PM CDT Thu Oct 27 2022

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Southwest Oklahoma
  Western North Texas and Low Rolling Plains

* Effective this Thursday night from 600 PM until Midnight CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 60 mph possible

SUMMARY...Isolated/widely scattered severe storms are expected to
develop near a triple point/dryline across the Low Rolling Plains
and western North Texas this evening. Although the boundary layer is
not overly moist or unstable, steep lapse rates and strong winds
aloft will support hail in the most robust storms, along with the
possibility of strong/gusty thunderstorm winds.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles north northeast
of Childress TX to 45 miles east of Big Spring TX. For a complete
depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline update
(WOUS64 KWNS WOU7).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

&&

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 50 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 450. Mean storm motion vector
23020.
