The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Western and Central Kansas
Southwest and South-Central Nebraska
* Effective this Thursday night and Friday morning from 925 PM
until 400 AM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
mph likely
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...Ongoing thunderstorms in eastern Colorado and the Nebraska
Panhandle are expected to continue eastward into western/central
Kansas and southwest/south-central Nebraska. These storms are
expected to evolve into one or more convective lines, with an
attendant threat for damaging gusts. Some gusts to 75 mph are
possible. There is some threat for hail as well, particularly if
storms develop in the wake of these convective lines.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 145
statute miles north and south of a line from 25 miles northwest of
Goodland KS to 50 miles east southeast of Hill City KS. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
