URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 644 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 740 PM CDT Sun Aug 13 2023 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southeast Kansas Central and southern Missouri * Effective this Sunday night and Monday morning from 740 PM until 200 AM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter likely A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Clusters of supercells will spread east-southeastward from eastern Kansas into western and southern Missouri through the early overnight hours. The primary severe threats will be large hail (near 1.5 inches in diameter) with the more discrete storms initially, and damaging winds (60-70 mph) with any upscale growth. A tornado or two will also be possible with the discrete storms and circulations embedded in the clusters/line segments later tonight. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 65 miles northwest of Joplin MO to 45 miles northeast of West Plains MO.
