The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of 
  Far southern North Carolina
  Eastern to central South Carolina
  Coastal Waters

* Effective this Friday morning from 1240 AM until 700 AM EST.

* Primary threats include...
  A couple tornadoes possible

SUMMARY...The threat for a couple brief tornadoes will persist
through dawn as low-topped showers and isolated thunderstorms
continue to regenerate over the Atlantic and spread inland.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles
either side of a line from 45 miles southeast of Fayetteville NC to
50 miles south southwest of Orangeburg SC. For a complete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...This tornado watch replaces tornado
watch number 567. Watch number 567 will not be in effect after
1240 AM EST. 

AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
surface and aloft to 0 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
gusts to 50 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 350. Mean
storm motion vector 15040.
