Areas affected...Southern KS...Northern OK

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 440...

Valid 052311Z - 060045Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 440
continues.

SUMMARY...Severe threat appears to be increasing across southern KS
and northern OK. Damaging winds and large hail are expected. New WW
may be required across southeast KS and northeast OK.

DISCUSSION...Early-evening satellite imagery suggests convection
across southern KS and northern OK is evacuating air efficiently
with expanding/cooling cloud tops. Radar imagery supports this with
numerous thunderstorm clusters maturing and coalescing across WW440.
With time it appears an MCS will evolve along the KS/OK border and
this activity should begin to propagate east-southeast into
northeast OK where surface-3km lapse rates are steep and buoyancy
more than adequate for sustaining this complex of storms. In
addition, southwesterly LLJ will focus inflow across this region
assisting in the longevity of the MCS. New WW may be warranted
downstream for this activity.
