MD 1402 CONCERNING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 433… FOR NORTHEAST KANSAS INTO WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI
Mesoscale Discussion 1402 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0922 PM CDT Sat Jul 22 2017 Areas affected...Northeast Kansas into west central Missouri Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 433... Valid 230222Z - 230415Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 433 continues. SUMMARY...Sporadic severe storms capable of damaging winds and localized large hail remain likely across the watch area. DISCUSSION...A large mass of thunderstorms continues to evolve slowly eastward out of Kansas, with multiple measured wind gusts over 50 kt earlier. Radar indicates substantial outflow being produced with these storms, which have been undercutting others and limiting propagation. Recently, cells over eastern Kansas (Douglas into Johnson counties) have shown signs of maintaining a reasonable eastward propagational speed, with outflow remaining near the storms. Other cells were rapidly developing ahead of it, with at least marginally severe hail or wind expected. Surging outflow from the west may also given an additional boost to the eastern storms. Given strong instability surrounding these storms, strong to severe outflow winds are possible radiating in all directions. Further development is expected with eastward extend this evening. ..Jewell.. 07/23/2017 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... ATTN...WFO...LSX...SGF...EAX...TOP...
