Areas affected...Eastern KS...Northwest MO

Concerning...Winter mixed precipitation

Valid 111252Z - 111645Z

SUMMARY...Mixed winter precipitation, including freezing rain and/or
sleet, is possible across the region through mid-morning.

DISCUSSION...A strong cold front extends from eastern IA
southwestward through north-central MO and southeast KS.
Temperatures ahead and immediately behind the cold front are
generally in the 40s but strong cold advection will result in
surface temperatures dropping below freezing quickly. Mid-level
temperatures will remain warmer as the mid-level trough lags behind
the surface cold front. As a result, thermodynamic profiles
favorable for sleet and/or freezing rain will likely exist across
the region during the next several hours.

General expectation is for ongoing precipitation to persist and for
the area of precipitation currently moving northeastward from
south-central KS to move into the region. Given the anticipated
thermodynamic profiles, a mix of freezing rain and/or sleet is
possible over the next few hours.
